Real Mushrooms vs FreshCap Lion’s Mane Capsules: Labels and Cost Comparison

Real Mushrooms and FreshCap Lion’s Mane capsules compared on package price, cost per label serving, beta-glucan labels, extraction and test reports.

By Mushroom Explorer · Published 2026-09-30 · Sources checked 2026-09-30

Real Mushrooms Organic Lion’s Mane Extract Capsules and FreshCap Organic Lion’s Mane Capsules are both Hericium erinaceus fruiting-body capsules. Their Supplement Facts panels list the same extract mass per label serving: 1000 mg in 2 capsules for Real Mushrooms and 1000 mg in 2 capsules for FreshCap. The products differ in capsule count and one-time package price, in how each label declares beta-glucan, in what each brand states about extraction, in capsule ingredients and in the test-report evidence available.

The details below were read on 2026-09-30 from each brand’s product page and Supplement Facts image, plus the sample report Real Mushrooms publishes. Prices are single-unit, one-time USD offers; shipping, tax and subscription offers are excluded. Both beta-glucan inputs are label declarations, not tests of a shipped lot.

Exact labels and recorded costs

Observed 2026-09-30. These exact variants were checked separately from the older catalog snapshot published August 20, 2026, so values can differ. Minimum statements remain minimum statements; sample COA results are kept separate from the arithmetic. A label serving is the package’s stated unit.

Capsule count, one-time package price and cost per label serving

The selected Real Mushrooms variant (120 capsules · RM-LM60C) has a one-time package price of $34.95, and the selected FreshCap package (60 capsules) is listed at $19.99. Both labels define a serving as 2 capsules, which works out to 60 label servings for Real Mushrooms and 30 for FreshCap. Real Mushrooms has the higher one-time package price and the lower price per label serving: $0.5825 against $0.6663.

The two serving counts are sourced differently. FreshCap’s is the serving count on its Supplement Facts panel for the selected package. The Real Mushrooms count is the selected package’s capsule count divided by the label’s serving size. Each price is the one-time option selected on the brand’s product page for that exact package. A serving here is only the label’s unit for the price arithmetic.

How each label declares beta-glucan

Real Mushrooms prints 300 mg of beta-glucan per serving on its Supplement Facts panel, as a plain amount with no greater-than sign or other inequality. The cost calculation uses that printed milligram figure and leaves out generic percentage claims and the brand’s sample assay.

FreshCap’s label states a percentage instead: standardized to contain 31% beta-glucan. Its per-serving amount is calculated by applying that percentage to the 1000 mg extract serving. The percentage is the label’s own declaration, not an independently verified result for a shipped lot.

On those inputs, the label arithmetic comes to $1.9417 per gram of declared beta-glucan for Real Mushrooms and $2.1495 for FreshCap. One figure starts from a printed milligram amount and the other from a percentage applied to extract mass. The pair shows what each label’s declaration costs, not how much beta-glucan a shipped package contains.

Source material and extraction statements

Both labels print the scientific name Hericium erinaceus, and both products are described as fruiting body. That description comes from the ingredient line on FreshCap’s Supplement Facts panel and from the product page for Real Mushrooms.

The extraction statements describe different details. Real Mushrooms’ product description states hot-water extraction, and FreshCap’s Supplement Facts panel declares a 14:1 declared extract ratio. This comparison therefore has a method without a ratio on one side and a ratio without a method on the other. A method and a ratio are different kinds of information, and neither establishes that the two extracts are equivalent.

Both serving figures are extract mass. FreshCap’s ratio is a label declaration and is not used as a multiplier to turn its 1000 mg of extract into a raw-mushroom amount. Matching extract mass on the two panels does not make the servings interchangeable.

Capsule shells and other ingredients

Below its Supplement Facts, the Real Mushrooms label lists hypromellose (vegetable capsule), microcrystalline cellulose (flow agent), silicon dioxide. The comparison uses that printed line as written, not general no-fillers marketing language.

FreshCap’s official product page lists a pullulan capsule. That ingredient listing on the product page, not the Supplement Facts image, is the source. The shells are different materials: hypromellose for Real Mushrooms and pullulan for FreshCap. The Real Mushrooms label line also names microcrystalline cellulose as a flow agent and silicon dioxide, and FreshCap’s product-page listing names no flow agent.

Test reports and lot evidence

Real Mushrooms links a brand-published sample report covering a named sample supplied for testing. The report’s product code omits the capsule suffix in the selected variant’s SKU, so a match to this variant is not established, and it is not matched to the lot now shipping. The report states its own beta-glucan percentage for that sample. That result is separate context: the Real Mushrooms cost figure uses only the milligram amount printed on the label.

No product-specific report link was found on the inspected FreshCap product page. That finding covers only that page; whether a report is published elsewhere is not established. FreshCap’s cost figure uses the label’s standardization percentage. Neither product’s beta-glucan input is a test result tied to a shipped lot.

Reading this comparison

Both products share a scientific name, a fruiting-body source and the same stated extract mass per label serving, and they differ in capsule count, one-time package price, the form of the beta-glucan declaration, extraction detail, capsule ingredients and report evidence. The per-gram figures price each label’s own declaration, a printed milligram amount for Real Mushrooms and a standardization percentage for FreshCap, and neither is a measurement of a shipped lot.
